South Media Fire Co.

The South Media Fire Company No. 1 (Company 51) is an all volunteer company protecting Nether-Providence Township and the Borough of Rose Valley, in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Garden City Fire Co #1 (Company 65) is South Media's sister station, and both stations are dispatched together on all first alarms. South Media Fire Co #1 was established in 1922, and along with Garden City comprise Nether Providence Township Fire Department.

Companies 51 and 65 offer mutual aide to Swarthmore Fire Protection, Springfield, Rose Tree Fire Company, and Woodlyn.

The fire company also protects Route I-476 (The Blue Route) southbound from Interstate I-95 to US Route 1 along with the Garden City, Springfield and Woodlyn Fire Companies.

South Media currently operates two Pierce built engines Engine 51 , Squad 51 Pierce dry rescue 51. South Media also runs Utility (51-8A) and Command (51-8) vehicles. Garden City provides first-due ladder for South Media (82-5) with a 105' Pierce truck (scheduled to be replaced Summer 2008). Ambulance coverage is provided by Media Fire Hook & Ladder Co Staffed By Riddle Paramedics.

Station 51 is located on Washington Avenue in Nether Providence Township (The area is referred to as the South Media section of the township.
